Artist Statement

Erode exams the toll that social destabilization, lack of institutional trust, and state-sanctioned violence have on the psyche of the community The work reflects a personal loneliness within a broader cultural landscape. Structures that once offered stable purpose have been eroded to the point that trust in those systems dissolve. A longing for some greater purpose is expected each passing day, but never given. Erode offers a space where transformation remains unresolved, and a lack of belief becomes more formative than belief itself.

Decay explores the deterioration of communities through an architectural lens. It highlights how disenfranchised areas, often neglected by institutions, reveal this abandonment most clearly in their crumbling infrastructure. Fractured walls, uneven sidewalks, and unchecked overgrowth serve as visible markers of a broader systemic indifference.Where the failure to invest in small, communal improvements reflects a deeper disregard for the well-being of society as a whole.

Polaroid Lifts 2026

This piece continues to center moments drawn from neglected communities. Using film photography collage to build layered, fragmented narratives that reflect both what is visible and what is erased. Through this process, the work expresses a deep and growing frustration with a national climate in which many communities feel increasingly targeted and destabilized by those in power—whether through immigration raids, the separation of families, or widespread government infringements on unalienable rights. These experiences are not abstract, but lived realities that disrupt safety and belonging.

The fractured nature of collage mirrors this instability, creating a visual language of interruption and dissonance that speaks to this anger. The piece serves as both a personal and collective response to a country that, in many ways, appears to be turning away from its own people. Insisting on holding space for the stories and voices that continue to be overlooked or ignored.

Systemic 2026

The flag of the nation feels more stained than ever. We’re constantly exposed to images of violence and injustice, while those in positions of authority continue to exploit their power. Mass incarceration persists, climate change accelerates, bombs fall in Palestine, and the federal minimum wage fails to keep pace with a gallon of gas. Increasingly, Americans are recognizing that the system was never designed with them in mind. It functions to preserve power for those who already hold it, extracting as much as possible from both the planet and its people. Systemic leaves the audience with a deep sense of frustration and anger at the current political climate, while also suggesting that real strength lies in the connections we build with one another to resist these forces.
