creation care

Design Challenge

Team with the PLNU Office of Sustainability to promote Creation Care Week. The goal is to engage the campus community, spark conversation, build empathy, and inspire action as stewards of our common home. How might we illuminate the effects of climate change and its impact on people, biodiversity, and the planet? What is currently being done collectively to mitigate climate change? What actions can individuals take? Use social science research findings to effectively communicate about climate change in a polarized world.

Design Solution

The aim of my poster was to highlight that the impacts of climate change in New Zealand reflect challenges faced across the globe. During my research, I came across the Māori phrase “He Waka Eke Noa,” meaning “a canoe we all share, together.” This expression captured the essence of the issue, emphasizing both our shared global responsibility and the specific struggles faced by the people of New Zealand in confronting climate change.

senior show

Design Challenge

Design an engaging and cohesive event identity across media that announces our 2026 Senior Show. It must celebrate the Visual Arts and Graphic Design senior capstone work and experiences. The design must clearly inform, create a call to action, and capture the spirit of PLNU and its graduates.

Design Solution

To express the limitless paths seniors will take after graduation, the design draws inspiration from a shared piece of the past. The poster is based on a well-known promotional image from The Sims 4, a life simulation game that allows players to guide characters through every stage of life. Like many in this generation, the game has been influential in shaping early understandings of adulthood and the possibilities it can hold. The composition recreates EA’s original marketing style while incorporating photographs of seniors stepping into new phases of life, symbolizing their confidence and readiness for the future; strengthened by the foundation they have built at PLNU.

digital witness

Design Challenge

Create two dynamic experimental posters promoting LACMA’s exhibit Digital Witness: Revolutions in Design, Photography, and Film examines the impact of digital manipulation tools from the 1980s to the present. Work in the same experimental spirit of the designers of the time. Use critical thinking, design principles and theories, along with best typographic practices to guide your process. The aim is to demonstrate clear visual hierarchy through type styling, font, scale, spacing, and a grid. Your solution must be visually compelling and strike an emotional chord to bring audiences in to see the exhibit.

Design Solution

LACMA’s Exhibit was one that celebrated the history of graphic design through the designers who developed it, and the tools that helped give them the means to create.

My poster sought to work in the experimental spirit of these designers, while also following the principles they developed. I learned how to use simple concepts like hierarchy, image, and message to the most of their abilities to achieve this goal.
